Onboarding
Onboarding helps users understand the platform and reach their first success quickly. Copy should be encouraging without being patronizing.
When to use
- On first login or when a user accesses a new product area for the first time.
- As part of wizard flows for complex setup tasks.
Style
- Lead with what the user can do, not what the product does.
- Keep each step focused on one task.
- Use action-oriented CTAs. For example, Set up your first connection.
- Do not use marketing language in onboarding flows.
Wizard step titles
- Step titles are short imperative phrases. For example,
Choose a data source,Configure access. - Do not number the step in the title text - the stepper component handles that.
